One of my favorite parts of my job is the fact that I belong to several “chat” channels within the WordPress Community. WordPress is such a vibrant, interactive Community that sometimes you forget that it’s a piece of software that runs about 24% of the web. Interacting with this bunch of folks is great because, over time, we’ve gotten to be friends, but we also help each other out in so many ways; the idea being that a rising tide floats all boats. I know for a fact that my interaction with this Community has helped our company grow drastically in the last two years, and I would definitely like to think that our company’s participation within the Community has helped others’ professional, and perhaps personal growth, as well. The goal of our company has always been to improve the quality of life for anyone we come into contact with.
When I put out the call to help raise funds for the homeless mother, the WordPress Community stepped up BIG time, and part of that was due to WordPress friends posting links to the call within the various chat channels in the WordPress Community. When we put the call out to “Tilt the Attic” $7,800 was raised and a lot of it was from the Community. Can you tell I’m a fan?
When this got put out to the channels, I received a few private messages and a couple of emails from people telling me THEIR story. It was enough to inspire me, and the thought occurred to me that maybe people are tired of hearing our story and maybe they’d like to hear from someone else; someone who has been through their own trials and tribulations. Someone who has overcome them all (or many of them) with the help of total strangers; something, or someone that inspired you.
If you’re that person (or one of those people), I’d love to have you guest-post. You can either be totally anonymous or you can put it out there for the world to see. So, if you’d like to share your story, follow this link, or click on the “Share Your Story” link in the menu. I look forward to reading about all the awesome stories you have!
